I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor, mediator and conflict coach. I received a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology from the Adler University and a certificate in conflict resolution specializing in third party mediation from the Justice Institute of BC. I am a vice-president at The Neutral Zone and a faculty member at the Justice Institute of British Columbia in the program for Conflict Resolution. I am currently in training to become a certified AEDP therapist (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy). AEDP is an emotions based therapy that borrows from attachment theory and emphasizes the importance of the client-therapist relationship (visit the AEDP website for more info).

Having worked with a diverse clientele, I have come to understand that therapy cannot be practiced formulaically. For this reason, my goal in each session is to meet clients where they are at, not where I’d like them to go. I have benefitted immensely from the therapy I have received throughout my life and first decided to pursue counselling during my previous career as a wildland firefighter. After years of working toward operational proficiency it occurred to me that my attention was badly needed in the interpersonal realm. My fear of conflict had prevented me from having the kinds of frank and open conversations that support all meaningful relationships. It’s a tremendous privilege to accompany others along their own circuitous path towards authentic expression. We must be brave to do this work.

I am grateful to my children and their other two parents for their indispensable contribution to my learning. To them, to my friends, and to my wonderful clients, I thank you for colliding your lives with mine.
